St Francis Xavier College is a Catholic College with enrolments of over 3,300 students for 2023.
The College serves families from the parishes of Berwick, Koo Wee Rup/Maryknoll/Iona, Narre Warren and Pakenham under the governance of Diocese of Sale Catholic Education Limited (DOSCEL).
St Francis Xavier College is easily accessed via several major freeways – only 20 minutes from Springvale Road on the M1.
We have a vacancy for a Canteen Assistant to support our College Canteen team in providing healthy and quality food services for our staff and students.
The successful candidate will be required to be employed on a Casual contract and will be required to be available between the hours of 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
This role is ideal for someone with excellent interpersonal skills who enjoys working in a busy customer-facing role as it also allows you to work additional hours on an ad-hoc basis in our College Uniform Shop.
Key responsibilities include:
- Kitchen duties including preparation of food and cleaning dishes
- Restocking of shelves with stock rotations
- Assisting with food & beverage sales via the POS terminal
- General cleaning & hygiene duties throughout the Canteen Service Area
- Preparation & management of lunch orders
- Assisting with College catering
- Other duties as directed by the Business Manager, Assistant Business Manager or Canteen Team Leader.
- Assistance in College Uniform Shop may be required occasionally
To excel in this position, you will have the following skills, experience and attributes:
- Prior experience in a similar environment
- Have an understanding of the latest Food Handling requirements.
- Ability to work in a team environment under a short time-frame turnaround.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to the College community i.e, staff, students & suppliers
- Excellent communication skills
- Understanding of OH&S requirements
Staff are employed under the DOSCEL Schools and Secretariat Agreement 2022.
