Okanagan Foothills Poultry is hiring a poultry labourer with a preference for a slaughter person but open to applications for an eviscerator labourer.
We are a small, family-owned operation specializing in processing chickens and turkeys. We pride ourselves in animal welfare and integrity with our customers.
- This is a part-time, seasonal position starting May 15, 2023 through October 31, 2023.
- Hours of work are 6:30 am to 2:30 pm Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays, booking dependent.
- We offer a per diem starting at $200 to $225.00 per day depending on experience.
- There is a one (1) month probation period.
- Previous experience is an asset but not required
Slaughter labourers “poultry preparers” are responsible for the following:
- Handling live chickens and turkeys in preparation for processing
- Slaughtering chickens and turkeys
- Cleaning transport crates
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitization in kill room
- Other weekly cleaning duties as per routine
Eviscerator labourers are responsible for the following:
- Removing feet and necks of poultry
- Removing viscera and other inedible parts from carcasses
- Washing poultry to prepare for further processing and packaging.
- Packaging and labeling chickens and turkeys
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitization in eviceration room.
Other weekly cleaning duties as per routine
All labourers will be shown and must
- Be able to stand for long periods of time
- Be physically fit and able to lift, push, and/or pull weight of up to 50lbs
- Ensure all Polices and Standard Operating Procedures are followed at all times;
- Ensure all HACCP and WorkSafeBC requirements are followed at all times;
- Ensure safe and hygienic practices are followed at all times;
- Be able to communicate effectively in English
- Have a good attitude and be a team player
